Marylin Monroe is arguably the most famous of Andy Warhol’s subjects (aside from the soup can). She’s an icon of icons – the original super star. Her beauty is stunning and her sex appeal was flaunted at a time when that wasn’t really a main stream thing.

I wanted to portray Marylin’s iconic beauty without the obvious sex appeal. In the black and white source photo I used for this pin, she wore a dark turtleneck sweater. Her yellow, Lego-style hair frames her face perfectly and the famous birthmark gets center-stage. I love this version of Marylin.
